Historic
Port Blakely Tree Farm properties
are now available. While
the rest of the island has been developed over the last 150
years, the land owned by Port Blakely Tree Farms LP, comprising
over 1000 acres has been kept in pristine condition with little
change.
Now there is a rare opportunity to own some of the last and
best acreage parcels on Bainbridge Island. Some of these parcels
are as large as 5 to 10 acres. A few will have views of Seattle
and many will be private with southern or western exposure
and little or no through traffic nearby.
Ten
years ago, people despaired of finding good large acreage
parcels for sale. The good land had already been used up.
These parcels are being purchased for sale mostly by individuals
who want to build their own homes now or in the future. Most
areas have restrictions which keep the properties from being
further subdivided, so the area will look virtually the same
in 30 years. When these are gone, we will be back to the way
things were ten years ago, looking for the odd large parcel
here and there.
The
total acreage is zoned for over 550 homes. After the planned
projects are done, there should be fewer than 200 homes in
the same area of 1050 acres, with protections designed to
keep it that way.
Some of these sites are available as vacant land with paved
access roads and underground utilities.
All the areas share a common
trail system which connects the entire
area from Fort
Ward State Park, through waterfront Blakely
Harbor Park, up to the land along Rockaway
Bluff Road and over to the adjacent 350 acre IslandWood
(formerly The Puget Sound Environmental Learning Center)
Here are three areas being developed:
- Blakely
Hill
These
properties all slope gently to the south with plenty of
opportunity to create sunny exposure
- West
Blakely Lots
Very sunny area just east of the historic West Blakely area.
- Sunny
Hill
Originally known as the Sunny Hill Dairy Farm, the property
sits on a plateau, one of the highest points in the area.
- West
Harbor
This land is part of the Port Blakely neighborhood, bounded
on two sides by open space and the Blakely Harbor Park.
