The Bainbridge Island School district covers
the entire island. There are three K-4
elementary schools, one 5-6 middle school,
one 7-8 middle school and one high school.
We consistently rate in the top three districts
in the state. There are also Montessori, Waldorf and other education alternatives as well as several private schools like Hyla Middle School.

Waterfront and inland parks offer facilities ranging from camping and hiking to ball fields, playground and equestrian trails. Recreational boaters use the boat ramps and marinas. BIPRD's wonderful classes cover sports, art and recreation activities including an extensive aquatics program

  The Ferry Schedule
Ferries run about every hour or so between Seattle and Bainbridge Island and are a big part of island life. Many Islanders enjoy the scenic commute daily to downtown jobs in Seattle, either walking onto the ferry or riding bicycles. The ride is about 35 minutes one way. This link gives you the FerryCam - a live link that Islanders use to see what's happening at the terminal, and if the lines will be crowded for a particular ferry.
